Over the summer holidays orchestral workshops are held at the Krakow Philharmonic for talented students of primary and secondary music school as well as for Bachelor degree university students. The classes are offered by conductors and musicians affiliated with the Philharmonic. Orchestral workshops culminate in the final concert, during which the young musicians will present a broad spectrum of international music repertoire to the audience.
The Philharmonic Summer School project aims to support traditional artistic education, and is addressed to particularly talented young people who wish to broaden their artistic horizons, and perfect their instrument-playing skills by gaining the experience of performing in a group of musicians, both as part of chamber and orchestral ensembles.
Apart from the musical dimension of the workshops, the young participants will also have the opportunity to engage in classes conducted by experts in other disciplines, including psychology, mental training, labour market analysis, environmental studies, and many others.
A huge number of applications, and a high level of artistic skills presented by the participants testify to the interest in the programme as well as to an evident need of self-improvement among the young practitioners of the art of music. The last two editions of the Summer School were co-funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
